It was another great night of music at Music City Roots last night. I went to see Will Hoge but thoroughly enjoyed the rest of the eclectic line up that included Jason Ringenberg from Jason and the Scorchers,
Angel Snow, The Dirt Daubers and Chip Taylor. Chip wrote and “Angel of the Morning” and “Wild Thing” and sang them both last night at the Loveless Barn. It was so freakin’ cool to hear those two classic songs performed by the songwriter who penned them decades ago. And, in an interesting side note, Chip Taylor’s brother is actor Jon Voight!
Then there was Nashville’s favorite son, Will Hoge, who never ceases to amaze me. He opened sitting down to sing the mellow title track from his latest work “The Wreckage” and then sang the rockin’ “Long Gone” which he wrote with Music City Roots’ host Jim Lauderdale. Will also performed “Dirty Little War” and the rock n’ roller autobiographies “The Highway’s Home” and “Even If It Breaks Your Heart.” However, the highlight of the evening was definitely Will’s emotionally-charged performance of “Silver and Gold” from his “Draw The Curtains” album. It is so great to see Will Hoge well and back on stage where he was born to be!
The artists’ ended another great evening of music with a Loveless Jam of “Willin” by Little Feat.

Next week’s show features Sugarcane Jane, Tennessee Mafia Jug Band and J.D. Souther.
So, if ya get the chance on a Wednesday night, support Nashville’s eclectic music scene by checking out Music City Roots. I know I will be back!
Cheers,
